Pretty quiet today on the transfer front with no major news to report. Ancelotti of AC Milan has come out and said that getting Henry from Arsenal will be very difficult but then I think pretty much everyone could work that out. Sneijder may snub both Villa and Spurs and stay at Ajax for another season, which would be a pity since he would be a major asset to the premiership, though I do hope he doesn’t end up at Spurs! Robben is close to signing a new deal with Chelsea, which might make Calderon keep his mouth shut for a few hours though pigs might fly first. Liverpool have apparently enquired about Darren Bent with rumours of an 18 million pound price tag coming up, he’s a quality striker with a proven goal-scoring record in the premiership but 18 million is way too much money, no wonder clubs aren’t buying English players anymore.
And speaking of strikers, Man Utd are actively in the hunt for one to partner Rooney up front as they have lost patience with Saha,, and Solskjaer is not the same player as he used to be. You’ve hear them all before but just in case, the names being thrown around are Torres, Berbatov, Anelka and Huntelaar and they are all going to cost an arm and leg so watch this space.
To finish up today, a quick note on the announcement that all the England players are donating their England match-fees to Team England Footballers charity. A great idea, and though it isn’t a huge amount to the players, it’ll make a big difference to others so good on ‘em, it isn’t always that we applaud the English team so they deserve credit where it’s due.
