And so it begins again, Thierry “va va voom” Henry has come out and talked about how “devastated” he was to see David Dein go and how “flattered” he is to hear about interest from AC Milan. Every fan, whether Arsenal or not, knows that the Arsenal board had no other choice then to get rid of Dein, the man was working behind the backs of the board members to bring in Kroenke and there’s no way that he could have retained his position on the board after they stated that they would not welcome any takeover attempt by Kroenke. Thierry seems to be a clever chap and he should have realised this, so even if he was devastated by the news, which is fair enough seeing as they were quite close, he should not have come out and said it in public. Who knows what kind of game he’s playing? To me it doesn’t seem like he wants to leave, but he is trying to draw attention to the insecurities at Arsenal at the moment, albeit in the wrong fashion. The board need to come out and say a few things in the next week, they should tie up Wenger’s contract, make a signing, state that Henry is going nowhere and outline what the club will do over the summer. This will hopefully put a stop to all the mutterings coming out of the Emirates.
Lots of games being played in other clubs too, Malouda has come out and stated that he wants to leave Lyon and has had contact with Chelsea and Liverpool, though nothing has been sorted out yet. Another classic move by a want-away player and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him in a Chelsea shirt within the next couple of weeks. Our favourite president, Mr. Calderon of Real Madrid, has told the world that he’d welcome Kaka with open arms. Brilliant PR from the Madrid man but Kaka will not be going anywhere this summer.
Tottenham and Aston Villa have both been linked with Wesley Sneijder of Ajax. I have bought him a number of times in Football Manager and he’s always done the job for me. But seriously, seen him play a few times and he’s a class act so would love to see him in the premiership…but preferably not for Tottenham. Chimbonda of Tottenham also may be on his way to Chelsea who are in the market for a right-back but I can’t see this one happening, it would take a lot of money to prise him away from Spurs and Chelsea would be better off looking on the continent for a right back, Daniel Alves would make the most sense.
Finally, a quick rant about David Bentley. Fair enough he’s played a lot of games this season and been involved with the main Enlgand squad, but leaving the U21 squad now because of “fatigue” is a fucking joke. Stuart Pearce cannot call up a replacement as he can only replace injured players and so is now left with 22 players for the European U21 Championship. The guy knows he’s tired so why leave it till this late to tell the boss? All he had to do was to tell Stuart Pearce a couple of weeks ago that he was going to train with the main squad then have a break, and we would’ve been able to call up another player. It just pisses me off that he’ll get out of this without any sort of punishment after letting his country and his team mates down. He should not be picked for England for a lengthy period of time. Rant over now, hope everyone has a good day…apart from Bentley, I hope he can’t sleep for the next week.
