Galaxy Beckons

So Calderon’s at it again, and boy this guy just won’t stay out of the news. Today he’s trying to persuade Becks to stay at Real Madrid after stating that he has a clause in his contract that allows him to stop his move to LA Galaxy. Galaxy have come out and said they know of no clause, and sources close to Becks say he’s set on his move. So Mr. Calderon loses again but before we have any sympathy, this is the man who called Dave, “an average cinema actor living in Hollywood”, when Becks first announced his move Galaxy. Put simply, he does not deserve any sort of sympathy and though I would have liked Dave to stay around in European football for another few years, it is fully understandable why he chose to move to Galaxy. At the time he looked like he had no chance of playing for England and Madrid again, so before people start labelling him a sell-out for his move, they should put themselves in his shoes and see just why he made the decision to go to the US.

All still quiet on the transfer front with the only news of interest being that Bolton may cash in on Kevin Nolan and that Dave Nugent is looking to leave Preston. Nolan is a hugely underrated player and would be an asset at any premiership club, and I wonder what the odds are on him joining Big Sam at Newcastle? Nugent is someone I’m a big fan of, saw his goal against Southampton when he coolly finished in front of goal with the outside of his right foot, and from what I hear he would definitely score goals in the Premiership. Everton are the favourites but Boro may come in since they desperately need some striking power.

Kudos to Wenger for saying he’ll honour his contract, though we shouldn’t have doubted that in the first place. If you want to read a good opinion on the whole going ons at Arsenal then go to arseblog.com where your man cuts through the crap and explains the whole thing a lot better then I ever could…which is probably why he has sponsors and I have nothing…and on that sad note, I shall make my exit…but only till tomorrow, when the fun shall renew. Night all.
